Hello Nickel, I'm back! Skipped nearly a year I think?

I like the austerity and stark contrasts of these paintings. Wonderfull compositions! I can well imagine why Rilke liked him. Fascinating!

For the second one, my favourite, I found a high resolution image.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ed/Vilhelm_Hammersh%C3%B8i_1898_-_Interi%C3%B8r_med_l%C3%A6sende_ung_mand.jpg

I think I'll do some of these in graphite with a finishing I learned from Van Gogh. (Hint: I need to get some milk)

Good choice, Nickel! Thanks!

http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/24-Mar-2007/65063-oscar.jpg i took this photo of Oscar in a park in Dublin...its really wonderful..dont you think!!! it took my brother and sisterinlaw and myself forever to find the spot where it was at...then right around the corner i had ...'bangers n mash':p a quote from Oscar .."anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination"...thanks to our nickel for those awesome paintings this week..and everyone have a great art week....tyree:wave: :wink2: :D

What a WONDERFUL statue of Oscar Wilde. I think I have seen about 5 performances over the years of 'The importance of being Earnest'. Everytime there's a play on when I go anywhere it is that one. I don't think I've seen any others of his. Is there a message for me there??

I also think those Danish (Hammershoi) paintings are marvellous. I have never encountered this artist before. Similar subjects to Wyeth I think- whom I am hoping to study/copy for the MOM this month.

I haven't managed to get anything classical done this month. I live in hope!

Ah...tyree, your photo of Oscar and bangers 'n mash brings back fond memories of the Emerald Isle. Fainne oir ort!

hmmmm, I am not familiar at all with oscar wilde - I like these quotes.

Living in hope, June? That reminds me of a dream I had. There was a snug little house in the side of a hill ( rather like Beatrix Potter's Ms. Tiggie Winkle's home -) and looking at it I said "it would be a nice place to live" and the reply came " It is yours, live in it" I have come away with the distinct impression that I rarely live INTO my life and hopes. They are most sort floating around me and I around them. Living into them is not the same as attaining them but rather a merging , embracing and rejoicing in them.

Awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Look at all the goodies in here. :D

I am going to have questions?

I think I'll do some of these in graphite with a finishing I learned from Van Gogh. (Hint: I need to get some milk)

I want details and examples

Oscar in a park in Dublin
Adorable and awesome and wow! Nice looking folds there too ;)

I think, well I know I've got a Eva Gabor wig, and a smoking jacket, and
no rock, but wouldn't it be fun to dress up and look like this and lay on a rock
in a park in Dublin and wait for people to find you............I know, it's the mind of an artist at work :p

So wise:)

Living into them is not the same as attaining them but rather a merging , embracing and rejoicing in them.

This one I don't yet understand.

I can see the floating bubbles, but if I reach up and pop one what will happen?
Should I have my knee high boots on? :)

My friend that is 91, the only person I know right now that old, told me,
make hay while the sun shines. :)

Mine, not a Hammersh°i.

How's that for a name change?

Nickel

ahhhh, - a light and quiet series sounds relaxing - the light is nice but can you call that pink quiet? I like the painting nonetheless, I find myself hiding behind the 4x4 on the left, peeking out looking for a hot cup of coffee..

well, a hope by its nature has not yet been attained.... to let our hopes float around is to subject it to our scrutiny, distancing ourselves from it...to embrace our hopes is to bring them into our heart and cherish them and draw from them the strength to move toward them

Artcards, huh? I never realized what I got myself into with those tiny things. Forget the milk-trick, it only works on large sheets of watercolor paper.
Does 3D sci-fi count as classical???

Tyree ----Whoaaa - that is one furry hunk of a monkey........I am likin' it alot. Hey, you didn't used to be a WC guide a few weeks back did ya???? .
I love Gaudi - Smithsonian did an article on him some years back . He was so imaginative. it is a miracle he got people to build those ideas.

Nickel - my ears are so big that when I itch'em the Q- tip doesn't come out on the other side:D - sorry but I don't think jelly biscuits are good for x-appentidis owners....:(

Nehalenia - that is a wonderful scene - I'm feelin' a little dizzy

On folds - tuesday I did sketch some folds while at a track meet but they are too abismal to post. wednesday, I did not get any sketching done but did watercolor in preparation for Hawaii - (11 more days). I hope maybe tonight

I love hearing you talk to yourself, Nickel. Like looking out my kitchen door window and seeing a robin alite and inspect its surroundings with a curious eye.

Is that new avatar YOU Tyree? I was so accustomed to the twelve year old bob hair cut that... well, your femme fatale look (if I may put it that way, with your gracious permission) comes as an intriguing surprise.

Nickel

Lol Luke, I love hearing myself too
Talking about birds, the tent worms are in the cherry trees, so
with my patched up old body out with a longggggg pole poking
holes in their nest so the birds can eat them~ freaky huh?

Well I thought I'd come back and talk to myself somemore~

however

Sometimes I sing Terri Clark's song,
wash my car in the rain, change my new
guitar strings, mow the yard just the same,
maybe paint a little painting just for you. :)

Oh yes! Keep talking. There is absolutely no predicting what synaptic paths your brain will take.

Susan's new hair style, yes, just the point I was trying to make, in my baroque fashion.

I have hair on my head thank you very much. Thin, I have to admit. And not so very much more that what continuely grows out of my ears, but we won't go there. (smiley unavailable, but visualize Fred Astire in tux and top hat, metal taps on his shoes clacking out a light fantastic on a glossy floor. That's me, babe.)

Who is Terri Clark? I do remember Petula, quite well.
