View Full Version : Ferme

Hello again all,

Yes the push is on to paint paint paint for three shows I have coming up. I so loved the ballet shoes theme that I revisited it. This one is called "Ferme" which means "closed" in french. It is also the name of a foot position in ballet. I thought it was a good title for a pair of ballet shoes tucked inside one another.

It is 14X18 LaCarte using Unison, Schminchke, Nupastel mainly. I'm considering having prints made of this one too.

awww thanks... I am having so much fun with these shoes... I aquired them for free from an email list I belong to called "freecycle." The idea is to connect people with stuff to give away, with people who need stuff in order to ease the environmental impact of throwing away goods... its all free. Yours for the taking or the asking. They have such email lists in most of the communities/cities around North America. Do an internet search for "freecycle" and see if there is a chapter in your neighbourhood. So far I've aquired these ballet shoes (which have netted me $600 in painting sales) a really great easel light, and some free fabric swatches for my still life set ups. Plus I've helped save the environment by avoiding these items ending up in a landfill. :)

Another awesome painting, Melanie!!! I don't know anything about getting prints made but I would think this series would be very popular with many people - and they can't all have an original. Thanks for the info about freecycle too, what a great idea!
