Because so many lately have asked about Raku and what things you can use it for, it inspired me to torch with late night. Soooooooo, here are the 3 marbles I made. I am going to put them in 3 separate posts since I took 3 pictures of each one. I'd love to hear what you thought about them and how can I get better?

First - a light ivory base with Raku paintball technique...

Picture #2 of the marbles was made with little bubbles on top of a gathered flower - sorta like brussel sprouts!

The third and last Raku marble was something I've never tried before. I got a mandrel and heated it up. Drove the hot tip into the Raku and started a gather. melted in the little pieces and drove them back into the Raku. I made a little ball at the end of the mandrel of melted Raku then allowed it to almost cool them pulled a stringer. Next, I planned the flower petals out of this stringer and the pistols too. Finally, I pulled my own twisties for the Sepals. I hope you like it.

Wow! Gorgeous, as usual...I almost don't let myself look at your marbles for fear the marble bug will bite me. I already have too much on my plate now.:) Love, Helen

Helen, I am SO impressed that you, of all people, liked them as I am in AWE of your work and wished I could get up to your level of artistry!!!

Ginger, I am always trying to make the "perfect" marble and I keep searching for it each time I torch.

Fabulous work Rich. I love the colours you got from the raku, specially the first one. I had never heard of paint ball technique before!!!! I think these are my favourites of all your marbles I have seen so far.

lol... I have a little 2-ended metal shot glass I fill 3/4 of the way to the top with Frit. Then make a marble as round as possible and heat 1/2 and spin in the firt - it is called the paintball technique.

Rick, I second what Ellen said. I have the suspicion that your marbles have been much better than previous photos have shown all along.

These are superfanatastic! (although my favorite is still the little guy who thermal cracked and had to be repaired!)

Rich those are just stunning!!
The first one makes me think of the Universe if it were painted by Van Gogh, I just love the colours and technique you've got going there :)

The colours in the second one are so gentle and muted, very pretty and your third marble... well.. that flower is out of this world, amazing!!!

Really wonderful work, congratulations
