Wonderfully personal statement, & beautifully done.

It reminds me of something my sweetie once said, then after he thought about it, he had to take it back. I had been studying a book on floral still life painting, and he commented after looking at it a bit, that he had never in his life seen an interesting still life. For him, still life was, by definition, BORING. Well, a few days later, as he was flipping through one of his "guy" magazines, he saw a beautiful drawing or painting, I can't remember which, of the particular handgun that he covets (he can tell you all about the precision with which it is made, the care that goes into it, how accurate it is, how beautifully finished, etc., etc.) and he realized that still life really CAN be beautiful and moving. :D Hehehe. It's all in what one responds to emotionally.

In fact, he himself later laid out some of his favorite guns and knives, carefully composing them with the lighting just right, and photographed them and did some drawings.
