Hi & welcome to Classical Art Journey

This week 61 is the week
some lucky soul will chose the third challenge for March.
Whoever posts next get's to pick :)

The focus of these threads are to stay "focused on our art"
by studing & making art. We pick our subjects and share it
by posting it here. Quick studies are good!

We hope you will join us by posting something
you are studying, a quick sketch, a wip or something like that.

If you see something you think we might want to see, post us a link.

these are very inspiring paintings!!! i guess im the first again to post..if anyone else has a better idea than the one im going to mention then please tell us!!! i was thinking of material folds... as classroom instructor JayD mentions in Basic 101 ..material folds...class 16...there are : pipe..zigzag..spiral..diaper..half-lock..drop and inert folds...the painting or drawing could be of a statue..a painting of a woman or man with folds in his or her gowns...an animal has folds ..if you dont wish to do material (elephant)..a still life with a table cloth....pick a painting of classical period that youve been wanting to try that has folds...any medium...as i said if someone else has another idea..please say..or if you like this idea...please say:p thanks again to our terrific hostess nickel...for the lovely inspiring paintings..im working on a waterfall so that one is of great interest to me...thanks...tyree:wave:

Is this week's thread about landscapes?

I have finished this one last week so I'm afraid I'm cheating but it's a landscape so just the same....http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/01-Mar-2007/77963-P9060070.JPG

Thank you Nickel ! It's 30x60 centimetres ... I don't feel so confident to paint on very large canvases yet ... they sort of make me feel "inhibited" for now... although my teacher is doing his best to try and convice me!
It grew very fast though... and I like the sense of distance it has too!

I’m still here. Friday night really sick, all day Saturday really sick, early Sunday morning 5 am in the hospital emergency room for eight hours then straight to surgery for appendicitis. I ’m home now. Should be better any day. Lol, any day in the next six weeks anyhow. If someone wants to start the journeys that would be great. I can’t do them right now. I’m going back to bed and sleep for awhile. The meds make me sleepy. I’ll be back in I hope to see everyone's work in a day or two.

Ah, there is lovely work here on this thread - I haven't visited it before.

Tyree - your waterfall wip is so atmospheric - it holds all the mystery that waterfalls do. I hope you post an update!

Mony - your sunflowers are just dazzling! and yes, they cry to be big, huge, wall sized.

Thanks my friends for thinking of me! :)
You all make feel better :)
Hugs to all! just don't squeeze me tight right now lol.

I wanted to share I book I was reading that I think is good.
It's at my local library and maybe at yours too.

The name is "A Painter's Guide to Design & Composition" here is a link and if you have real time player you can click on this link and browse through this book. I am very much impressed with it and think you will enjoy it.

It made me smile to read how she"Margot Schulzke" starts her book,

“A design is simply a recipe for a successful painting. Without a design, we get something ordinary, like scrambled eggs. With one, we may have Eggs Benedict.”
