View Full Version : After drawings of hands plz?

HI all :) just started an art course yesterday and have started out drawing hands :) just wondering if anyone knows of a lesson in here i may look at to check out some others work :) or maybe names of some drawing artists who may have done hands?any help appreciated Thanks ...Tony.

TYvm very Bill :) what a great drawing!! It gave me a sense of how I might use coloured pencils or pastels when its time to try other medias,as part of my assignment.All the best..Tony

Hi, I love to draw hands. I made quite few drawings of just hands and they sold pretty fast. Since you are practicing now the best way to go is draw your own hand, the non-drawing hand in different positions. You can use the mirror too to see it from different view. Pay attention to knockles and muscles and bones going from fingers to the wrist. I will show you here my copy of Mona Lisa hands done in colored pencils.

at the begining of the year i read a book i think its called dynamic hands ( something along that line ) that helped me alot in my hand drawings so if your more intrested in the bonestructure, muscle structure, and actual anatomy of hands... there is a great artist by the name of Burne Hogarth who has incredable studies done on hands, the head, and figure
these are in depth to the extreme! his site is unfortunatley under construction, but i think a quick search will bring up some of his work

Thanks Jolanta yes so far have been drawing my own hand,and just doing line drawings at the moment concentrating on the structure and characteristics.Love your work tyvm for posting it for me to look at :)

Ty James :) am off to have a search on Google and will see if there is anything in the Library to do with that artist.

I haven't done many...but this one was a challenge to get the skin textures as near as poss!

WOW!! tyvm Deirdre!! went last night and read quite about in that book,I couldnt work out how to download without getting all 6 books lol and was thinking 140 odd MB's might be too much for my computer haha,am going to ask Tutor today wether i can get it done by the LIbrary as the dont have the book in their catalogue :) Thanks again Deirdre!! feel i picked up some very good info in the bit of reading i did.All the Best...Tony
