My first solo flight on a wire wrapped pendant. The larger stone is turquoise, the smaller is ruby zoisite. Didn't follow a pattern - just let the stone "talk" to me.

Lisa, That is gorgeous and does not at all look like a first!

wow! looks very complex - wonderful work, lisa!

morning all..

lisa....wow, incredible wirework...i have to ask, did you keep track of how many feet/yards of wire you used? very impressive..

this necklace was soooo hard to scan, but for those of you who've seen garnets, you know what they look like! so garnet chips in a deep red with a thai silver flower....

02-13-2007, 09:01 AM
Lisa - that looks incredibly complicated - amazing first!

Carrie - I can imagine that must look quite striking on.

earrings today. Sometimes I feel like all I make is earrings.
Curlicue earrings with Kyanite - I put these on etsy yesterday hoping they might help to draw some views

cool blue chalcedony that I am praying won't fade
thanks for looking!

02-13-2007, 09:21 AM
tam...cool earring designs! the top one is super neat...i bet they're fun to wear!

02-13-2007, 09:45 AM
Lisa, that is very impressive!

Carrie, I can imagine just what that looks like. I love garnets, but the colour is so hard to see sometimes.

Tam, that earwire is interesting! I swung by Etsy to look (compulsive, what can I say) and I really like the oval post earrings you have up. They tempt me. The new banner is very sharp too - what font is that? It is PERFECT.

02-13-2007, 10:10 AM
Lisa, that can’t be your first!!! How long did all that take? Very nice wirework, and pretty stone!

Carrie, I’ve done many single strands of garnet, no matter how they’re done, they always evoke a “Wow!” for everyone! One of my favorites!

Tam, I like the way you did your Curlicue earrings! Does chalcedony fade?!!! I did not know that! I like those, too, good job!

02-13-2007, 11:06 AM
Tracy - thanks and the font is Garamond - I felt it was time to go back to basics - it was my first font love (i am a font junkie).

Sylvia - I am sure this chalcedony is enhanced - I'm just hoping its heat treated and not dyed. They both *can* fade but dyes can be more susceptible, especially reds.

Lisa, That is a beautiful pendant!!! You did an outstanding job of wire wrapping. The stone is beautiful too. You did a great job with it. I can hardly believe that this is your first. Be proud of yourself lady!!

Carrie, I Love garnets!!!! Great simple necklace!

Tam, Love all the different styles of earrings that you are creating of late. So pretty. One simple stone and silver and when I try that mine look so blah!! and yours look....wow....pow!! Keep on creating, they are great!

I'm knitting scarves trying to get my inventory up again for next years sales. Its cold here and I love to sit and knit & crochet when its cold. I have invested in some really cute patterns for some crocheted hats.

Lisa - what a beautiful pendant! I want to learn wire wrapping.

Carrie - Love the garnets. I have some more, now I want to do something with them.

Tam, as always, love your elegant simplicity.

Here's me for today, "just stringing beads". This is a bunch of jasper and tourmaline I started with a few weeks back and didn't like. I finally found a pendant I like for it and re-did it last night. Added some Brazilian blackstone and now I like it better. I'm not sure I love it, but it's better. Then pendant scans very pink, but it's not. It's more cream and red. Here's before and after: (Before is with a mookite pendant that I decided I hated. Love the color, hate the shape.)

Here one I did a couple months ago.

Lovely show today!

Lisa, that looks great for a first go - did you use a tutorial? It looks very similar to the ones from Studio Heath. You did a great job with it!

Carrie, I wish I could see the garnet color, they are one of my favs! This is a very pretty necklace!

Great earrings Tam, as always! I really really like the second pair!

Dana, I love the earthtones!

OregonRain, pretty piece! Of course it belongs here. :)

I put up an introduction on the other page. I was asked to try this site out by a friend that uses this site. I have 6 children. I have a VERY wonderful hubby. I try to fit in beading and computer around those.
I am having a bit of a time with this site but I am sure I will get it. I am having a hard time finding anything!
I love all the pieces that were posted so far.

Lisa - beautiful stones, and beautiful wrapping, it looks perfect!

Carrie - I can imagine how lovely it looks IRL! At first I thought the flower is cut of rock crystal!

Tam - oh yummy! Love the shape of the first pair and the colour of the chalcedony in the 2nd! And the circles!

Dana - good job on the rework, it looks gorgeous now! Just stringing? No way! :)

Oregon Rain - welcome! :) Of course your piece belongs here, it's so pretty!

Lisa C continue to let those stones speak to you...this is a STUNNING design! I've never seen anything like it.

Carrie you amaze me with all these tedious little projects...all those jumprings, now garnet chips. TERRIFIC necklace!

Tam I know there hasn't ever been a pair of your earrings posted that I haven't liked. The first pair is BEAUTIFUL, I love the design. I love all your work and wish you lived closer so I could pop over to your market and get a closer look.

Dana T those are GREAT pieces! Right in my color pallet...yum!

Oregonrain what a LOVELY piece. Your work definitely belongs here. There's quite a few of us weavers in the group. Welcome and show us more.

Sherry that is GORGEOUS! I absolutely love the copper and lampwork beads.

Nothing too great from me today. I did another teardrop necklace for the San Antonio store and then the quilt square is for my Corpus location (and I don't like it...yuck!) Neither are in my usual browns.

OregonRain you can post more than one item at a time or post more than once, as many as you like!

02-13-2007, 06:46 PM
Thanks I think I will add some more.
I love the woven bracelet. I have been wanting to try one like the patchwork. Hey I use to live in TX San Angelo. That is when I started calling myself OregonRain because I missed the rain SO much.:D

02-13-2007, 07:03 PM
Here is one of the first pieces I made w/out an item to look at.
This is a style that I just learned a couple weeks ago
This is one that I designed from something my sis in law wanted
This is the last one for todayhttp://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r65/OregonRain/redgreengoldandswarovski.jpg
This is the last piece I made. I like it but I put a magnetic clasp on and it comes unclasped randomly!!

Very nice OregonRain, I really like the ring!

Just so you know, not all magnets are made equally. I have had the same problem in the past and had to replace magnets for customers. Now I ONLY use the Mag-Lok brand magnets. Last year I convinced the owner of the company to cast them in copper so now we've got all three metals available to us...silver, gold, and copper.

:( I have a sinus eadache and a painful sinus so all I did today was shop for CLAY! More clay! Of course, I haven't opened it yet....

Tomorrow.

Everything you guys did is great, I did manage ot make a pair of earrings to go with a necklace.

Oregon Rain, beautiful intricate work and great colors!

On the other side of me---(there are many sides...... ) I had another story accepted today by a newspaper in Montana....it is a story I wrote about my ancestors homesteading in Montana.... --this has been published before several times, but I am happy it is "home" now.

Y'all take care now, hear?

02-13-2007, 10:32 PM
Hi Everyone...what gorgeous jewelry posted here today!!!
I want all of it   :D
Welcome OregonRain...your work is lovely! Glad you were able to post those today.

CC, sorry to hear about the sinus problems..yuk! Hope it's better soon. You got your clay...YAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY! I know you're going to have fun! What did you get?? Congrats on story!!
This evening I made some "Funny Valentine" heart pins for the ladies at work to wear tomorrow. Clay of course. They're not really big, about 1.5 - 2 inches with the person's initial inside the heart. Sort of whimsical thingy's for the day. There are 12 of us on the Admin team so we all have one.:D Now I am working on knitting the last sleeve for my jacket, then I will be finished with that project. I'll post the jacket once I get it assembled and the button sewn on. Thinking about adding a lacey crochet border to it on sleeves and collar as well-if it seems too short...kind of boxy jacket and it might not look right on me if it's too, too short.

02-13-2007, 10:34 PM
Ok so I now have Magnet/hole Silver plated 5x5mm how do you put them on. Any special way?

Lisa - First time...No way! Looks like you've been wrapping wire for years. Impressive work!

Carrie - Love the garnet chip necklace!

Tam - Both pairs of earrings are beautiful and very classy. I didn't know that blue chalcedony could fade? It's one of my new favorite stones. Bummer... I'll try and avoid the dyed ones. Thanks for the tip!

Gladys - Can you post some of your kitting when you're finished?

Dana (cat woman) - I went to your website and saw the beautiful tiger's you work with. Totally amazing! Your jewelry kind of resembles the cats, earthy tones and the natural stones. I like the necklace on the right, with the large pendant!

Kathryn - Welcome! I'm new here too. Love your work with crystals!

Sherry - I love the wirework! Awesome copper bracelet! I love that it's copper instead of sterling. Very warm feel to it.

Julie - Beautiful blue colors! I really like the necklace...Radiant.

Pamela - Love the pins! Lucky girls at work!

I've leaving tomorrow for much needed time in Seattle, to see family. Looking forward to seeing green grass! We're still knee deep in snow here. Hope to post some S&T's when I get back! Beautiful work you guys!

Okay - confession time - it was my first solo flight. I did one of Kristen Heath"s tutorials (Studio Heath) for my first attempt, but this my first time without any intructions in front of me - my second pendant.

BTW that peice is for sale. PM me if you are interested.
