Hi all,

I haven't posted here for so long I'm probably entirely forgotten by now. I've been preparing for my exhibition here in Shanghai- the opening last week went quite well, and it's running for two months, which is nice.

Here's one of the pieces (of 19 total- i won't post them all!!)

'Crimson Shanghai'- acrylic on canvas 80x60cm

Oh wow, what's not to like here - great texture & the colours are incredible, love the flecks of blue, I'm presuming the lighter colour is gold as opposed to yellow, is that correct ?

Good luck with the show, if the other 18 are like this I'm sure it will be a huge sucess  !!

If this piece is anything to go by I'm sure your show will be a roaring success.
Welcome back btw! :)

This is exciting! The colors really appeal to me as does the flowing composition.
You say you won't post all 19 but I hope we will be seeing a few more!

Wow, what a great response- thanks guys!

Thanks for the kind words, and I think I'll post a couple more now- though the styles of the pieces do vary a lot.

Maureen- I never used to paint this loosely, it was only about a year ago that I started doing more abstracts with the palette knife, and then when I came back to more a pictographical style i discovered I mush preferred to attack it with the knife and paint it in a whole new (new for me) looser way.

Taz- yeah the "yellow" is gold. These were professionally photographed and still the colours were completely elusive. You can see a better image here (http://bp3.blogger.com/_Y4sfWM-iOFg/RcGn8pKSgkI/AAAAAAAAAHo/vt8VTfjKuxA/s1600-h/Shanghai_Crimson_80x60_WEB.jpg)
(hmmm, I hope that works...)

OMG Lou  - Thanks for the close up, the painting really glows  - I was pretty sure it was gold (I think it was probably my ancient laptop not doing your painting justice rather than the photography !!!!!)

Would love to see some of your other show pieces if you have the time to post :) !!

Thanks Taz- you can see a lot more detail in the closeup. Glad you like it! :)

Rose Queen/Diana- thanks :) the show's going pretty well- getting a lot of good publicity and feedback. Unfortunately for the old bank balance there's been no sales yet but finger's crossed!

Very cool. I like the little touches of purpley blue throughout.
