this is a painting i'm busy with. The painting features punk legend, Sid Vicious from the punk band The SexPistols. Not particularly one of my favourite people but he certainly had a strong following here in the 70's amongst the punk rock movement. Dunno if he was that well known worldwide before his untimely death due to a heroin overdose at the age of 21 whilst awaiting trial for the murder of his girlfriend. Takes all sorts i suppose..........

Never heard of him... but can see a lot of evil in the face you've painted; in spite of the soft smile.. Gigi

I'm not familiar with the man or the group but I really like the composition and strength of this painting. I'll be sticking around to see what you do next.

The Sex Pistols were rather well known in Australia but I didn't know that is what happened to him. I just thought they disbanded.
Dramatic painting. I like how you have portrayed him.

Also remember Syd Vicious and the Sex Pistols. Wondered what had happened to them. This is a powerful work. You have captured the sense of darkness around the rather sinister character that he was. Well done.

Great job capturing that punk attitude Dave. Just curious, what size is this piece?

Didn't like the image he promoted, but I like this version of yours David!

Thanks for the comments guys, he certainly was an unsavoury character....I'll probably stick this painting on Ebay when i finish it.
I might list it on my website too, with one of there more audible soundtracks as background "music".
David......the painting is 60cms tall and 50cms wide with 4cm deep painted sides.

Aww cool, you totally captured his anarchistic sneer & the disdain they portrayed as a band, I'm thinking this will be snapped up by a former fan

Coming along very nicely...your portraits are excellent.
Well done - a great look on his face that I think captures a bit he was about.
I certainly remember the Sex Pistols. They were moderately popular at the campus radio station I worked at. They certainly helped shake up the music industry for awhile.
For anyone that's interested, there was a 1986 movie entitled "Sid and Nancy", that told his (their) story.

Taz.....i should be building but the weather is horrible...constant rain, everywhere's soaked.
Rose.....not as scary as my real face, some would say.....lol
Mark.....cheers mate, very kind comments.
Randy...thankyou, they certainly did shake up the music industry, one of the other band members "Johny Rotten" is still a bit of a rebel who still often appears on british T.V,...... i remember the 1986 film too.
