This is such a wonderful tool. I never think of it since I have had it for so long. Amazing how they become so very everyday.

It is a clamp with a swinging arm and some bull dog clips to hold photos. I made it almost 25 years ago. So, don't get any ideas other than to make one for yourself.

It is a swing arm (it is hinged) and it is attached to a thumb clamp and attached to the edge of my drawing board to hold photos or other references.

Just thought I would share it you all, now don't tell anybody else now.

You've caught me and my interest - so now my good intentions to concentrate on work are foiled - I'm off to sign up for the self portrait thread

Great Idea my hubby is going to have a new job now that he is retired. Making one of those thinggies.

I can not tell a lie though I will be telling all the other painters here in Quesnel about this thinggie for holding pictures or sketches on an easel

sorry your decret is really going to be out now

That is a good Idea.I have something similar....although not used for my Ref Photos.

I have the same type of Bulldog clip, but I bought a "soap holder" for $2 from a cheapy shop.
You know the holders that have plastic suction cups to attach to a mirror or smooth surface?
The Suctioon cups come out and they fit neatly into the Handle part of the Bulldog clip.
You can suction it on the wall and have your pic hanging down.

Very nifty Howard!
I have a large thin board that I rest on my easel and then rest my surface against that. Because it's larger than my surfaces, there is always a little room on the board to tape a reference to alongside my painting. ;)

Clever, Howard! I use a 2'x4' piece of Masonite on its long side in back of the support and tape the photo to that.

Oooooh - another good idea to ask to have made (the jobs are piling up for a certain person!!!)
This is far superior to my bits of re-used masking tape!
Thanks H.
