I normally reside over in the animals and wildlife forum but it was suggested to me to post some of my pictures over here. I'm fairly new to softies but I've been gung-ho on them since trying them out on colourfix paper. Here's a selection of my recent ones.
I welcome any C&C and I'll explain any of them if you want
wow....that's amazing.....we posted around the same time, but my doggie looks rubbish compared LOL!! (no, don't respond to that...)
That eye is stunning....size? did you use pastel pencils or just the sticks?

Wow, what a response!! Thanks so much for all the kind words.
To answer some of the questions, I use mostly softies but sometimes go for the hard sticks or even the pencils for detail. I still haven't worked out how to get enough detail with soft sticks, but I'll keep at it. Certainly most is with softs now.
Crocodile's eye, by memory 250 x 180 (10" x 7")
African Kite chasing sparrow (our own friendly kite in Kenya) about 200 x 200 (8" x 8")
Chimp 430 x 340 (17" x 13.5")
Lion ("Lazarus") 480 x 340 (19" x 13.5")
Hippo 400 x 270 (16" x 10.5")
Cape Buffalo ("The Boss" - reference to the male having a 'boss', the bit where the horns join) 400 x 300 (16" x 12")
Memsahib, our dear departed dog, waiting for me to take her for a walk, going cross-eyed because she's excited 180 x 190 (7" x 7.5")
African Weavers and nests, Nairobi National Park 480 x 340 (19" x 13.5")
and finally, here's my first ever pastel, a few months ago, another hippo 250 x 180 (10" x 7")

Hi Patrick, have I ever told you what a fantastic artist you are?
Your work speaks volumes! My favourite is still your hippo (the one above) there is just something about that one that really intrigues me.
I hope you will post more of your work here :)
