Here is a painting I've been working on for a while and I think it is nearing the finished state. :) It is oil paint on stretched canvas, 16 X 20. Any comments or critics are welcome....

Tusilato, it's going to be a nice work, but if you can allow me to make some comments I would say: -
1.Tone the sea blue down quite a lot. Add some darker tones in the immediate foreground.
2. The angle of the sloop seems odd to me, but I think it might be the proportion and the set of the main sail that's throwing it.

Thanks Tripod
The blue of the sea in the foreground is a bit much, might add something like land to one side....still working it out.

I like your painting a lot. It appears to me that the sea has a variation of one basic blue. My bro who lives close to the ocean, says the water is always lighter as you near shore and usually has a bit of green to it. Hope this helps.. Gigi

In the corner, foregound, I added what will be the stern of another sloop, kinda like a racing thing...still working it out.
Sorry about the quality of the photograph, I got a new camera and I'm still trying to figure it out.

This is the final (I hope) of the painting, I have enhanced the rail of the foregound sloop and added a bit more burnt siena to give more of a feeling of the sloop...http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/11-Feb-2007/91663-final_sloop.jpg
The photograph is a bit darker than the painting actually is in person. I hope you like it and I am looking for any c & c is welcome and encouraged...:)
