Did not draw at all last year except for a few drawings.
The one below is the last one I completed in 2006. Unfortunately my day job takes most of my time these days. Second image is a close up of a small section.
Title: Ribboned
Medium: Pastel on Pastel Paper
Dim: 19x25 inches unframed

Very beautiful! I really like the new 'wrinkles' you've added in the ribbon strands. Sorry about the attention demanded by the day job. I understand that all too well.

I really love this. My eyes keep going round and round the painting, taking in the beauty of the intertwining ribbons. Super work.

I like what you have going on inside of the "lines". That's what makes it unique & much more interesting. I like the depth & the colours that you used. I hope you can make more time to do more art.

Thanks for the comments regarding this drawing. Maybe I will be inspired to put more effort into art this year ( 2007 ).
------
I should tell you something about this drawing. I only drew about three pieces last year due to my day job. This was the third piece. The first two were completed in February 2006. I created a funny outline for this drawing in March, 2006 and just let the outline sit on the drawing table until November or so before I decided to actually complete it.
-------
The outline was created in a very funny manner. I took two charcoal pencils and tapped them together. You might try this technique yourself. I put an eraser between the two pencils to hold them apart a little. I had read about this idea in some drawing book that I glanced at several years ago.
-------
Then I just, in a random like manner, created a series of ribbon like structures.
-------
After that , I proceeded to carefully color in each shape.
-------
The version below is what the first pass looked like without much shading.

You certainly didn't have to tell, but it is a very generous thing to share. Both versions stand on strong legs. Your work is still one-of-a-kind.

haha .. It doesn't matter to tell such techniques. The actual application of the technique is the difficult part. The shading is very tedious and somewhat creative in the choices you have to make regarding how the shading is to be completed.

I know, that's why I think sharing is a good thing, for no matter what we might know, it is still the 'art' of the artist that determines the song to eye. And every song is different.

:) love this and I'm awe-struck at how neat and together it all is,
I get all messy with any kind of pastels (maybe coz I have very little patience).
want to see some more of your work!! :)
