Want to be a classical artist?

Don't know what it means?

Well most people don't and there is no one clear answer.

This is a subject forum. Not medium specific.

And this is a project forum.

Want to explore how to do this

Alla prima
Chiaroscuro
Grisaille
Impasto
Imprimatura

OR

Basic Paint Brushes
Old Master Flemish Medium

OR

Greek & Romans

OR

Medieval Painting
The Renaissance
Neoclassical
Romantic Art

OR

Not-western art in a classical style

Well it's all here in the classical forum and more.
Get out a sketch book, pencils, or sketch with a brush.

Your choice.

This is a list to get you started.

Start your own thread for 2007 with your sketches/works/studies.

It will be great to see where you are at the end of the year.

Come back to this thread and link your thread to this one.

If you are just starting to explore, take baby steps. It is a big subject
to learn. But everyone has to start someplace. Ask questions.
We will be glad to help.

A Statue/sculpture once a month from life, first Monday until Nov 12th.

Something from your imagination, on the Tues and Thurs each month.
Make it realistic and next time make it impressionistic.

Every Monday
Something that happens in your home,
outside your home,
on the way to work,
something of your town, city, state, country that
you find important to say something about through art.

On the 9th day of each of the 12 months.
Look in your newspaper, Listen to the radio, check out the local tv station. Something you saw on the way to work, out your window, across the room.

Remember to start your own thread and come back to this one with
a link to your thread.

Good Luck!

Okay, I'm in. I told myself I'd do more art in 2007, and I'd do it with something concrete in mind instead of just spending most of my time staring at a blank page and sighing, wondering what I should draw. This looks like a cure for what ails me.

I think I am going to give this a try. What a great way to improve your skills and have fun at the same time. I'm not going to guarantee I will get everything done with three young ones-including a 2 1/2 month old-but it will give me something to look forward to when I do get a moment of peace!!

Question: Are we supposed to link to our personal sketch/doodle thread anytime after we start it, or at the end of the year when it's all full? Thanks!
