Hi all, i was recently given a reference pic of an old train to paint. The train looked interesting and i felt it would be a challenge. I painted it in watercolour and was pleased with the result.
In the meantime i was trawling the net for educational information for my grand-daughter and found the very same ref pic on an educational site - its exactly the same so, i can only assume that the person took it from the site and gave it to me to paint.
I was going to show it here on wetcanvas too.
Will i be in breach of copyright laws if i show it? I won't be selling it as the person has now moved away.
How would i find out who exactly ownes the ref pic? It is not a photograph by the way it is maybe a lithograph as the train was built in 1808 in London.
It would be a shame to store it in a cupboard or under the bed.
Please ADVISE ME as i would not wish to break any laws - anywhere.
I TRIED TO DELETE THIS THREAD BUT COULDN'T. SINCE POSTING THIS I HAVE READ THE OTHERE LEGAL THREADS AND NOW KNOW THE ANSWER TO THIS ONE. THANKS ANYWAY.

Edith, you won't be breaking any laws if you frame it and hang it on your own wall to enjoy!
