View Full Version : Osprey - WIP

I decided to post this unfinished as it might stimulate me to get it done. This has been an exercise it what not to do. It started off on 8x10 black clayboard. After I got a way into it I decided I didn't like the black, and removed all the background with a cabinet scraper and pocketknife. This was the exact opposite of fun in my opinion - next time I'll start with white clayboard. Then I painted the sky with acrylics and am now scratching out the feathers. I've got a few of them tinted. Next will be the dead branch he is roosting on. I hope the image posts ok. Any comments are very welcome - I've learned a lot from you folks.http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/03-Dec-2006/83835-osprey.jpg

Wow, Dave this is really great. Hope to see more of it soon. I'm really anxious to see and learn more of the technique.

Looks right to me. I, too, have scraped off a board and let me tell you starting with a white is MUCH easier. I eagerly await your next post.

Coming along nice. I have messed up a few in the past also. I just painted acrylic over the black without scraping off. It didn't cause any adhesion problems, maybe just a little more paint.
