Hey, great work Harold. Really good choice of paper. I love the form you've managed to generate on the yellow plumage and that bit of redness on the back. The head is great too.

Thanks Patrick I appreciate you checking out my drawing, The colors did not come out as well as I hoped in the photo. I took a little artistic liberty and added a touch of orange to warm the bird up and to help give him some depth. They are such a beautiful yellow in the summertime. I like the way the black paper makes the colors pop, especially the white flowers. Thanks again for looking.
Gary thankyou too. I thought the Dogwood flowers would help bring out the yellow bird a little better. It's fun drawing on the black paper occasionally, a change of pace.

Beautiful, you did a good job! What kind of colored pencils? I ask, because I can't seem to get my colors as vibrant as that on black.
I love the center parts of the dogwoods too, you got that detail nicely.

Thanks Jody I really appreciate it. There's somethig about the black background.
Fae Lynn thankyou too. I generally use Prismacolors but do use a few others as well depending on what colors are available. I think that my attempt to get a lot of light for the photo made the colors a little brighter. I don't do very well at photographing my pictures to post. The colors are actually a little more subdued but not a lot. I'm kinda heavy handed with my pencils and sometimes I go over the colors with a colorless blender or white and then add a little more of the undercolor. I don't do a lot of plain colored pencil but sometimes will do a picture or two then go back to other mediums.

That is a fantastically coloured bird, the only possible change I would suggest is perhaps a little bit of highlight on his blackcap just to stop it disappearu=ing into the BG

I love the way the bright yellow stands out from the black paper. It's lovely.

Thanks Ceiliog, I think you are right about the black cap. It would help with the separation. I appreciate the input.
Kitaye, thank you for the nice comment. I really appreciate it.
