Hi - I have been out of the loop lately due to life in general. Here are a couple of horsey sketches in pastel - 1 on black Canson paper - Wrong side (rough) - this is Sassy, Seldom Sassy's horse from the RIL (thanks Emily!) and the other a Fresian baby that my friend Kelly bought - on suede paper -can't show the ref
on that as it is copywritten, but I have permission to paint from. Have missed everyone here - I have been at a new job for the past 3 months that has left me little time for art. Thanks for looking! http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/19-Nov-2006/49636-sassypastel.jpg

Going well, I like the reddish coat against the black background. Can I suggest on the second one to check the proportions? The chest and body look too deep in comparison to the head and neck, perhaps check the eye shape as well. Everything looks right in the first one, good work! Good luck with your new job.

Oh thank you both very much for looking! The 2nd one, as I said, is a baby Fresian - very interesting skinnyfaced horse! The body in the ref pic looks the same in proportion to the head as in my drawing. Wish I could show the ref pic. The eye (her left) was in the dark so hard to see. The owner loves it so far anyway. I will keep working on it!
