View Full Version : Best shade for rich/choc brown-umbers?

Hi all, im just putting an art oreder through, I currently have sienna but i find its quite red which i dont like, I desperately need a rich/ dark chocolatey brown can i have advice on the best common shade to go for i was thinking burnt or raw umber- any replies apprectiated.

Burnt umber is a dark rich warm brown and is just what you want.

Raw umber is a cooler, less intense brown, more translucent. It's good for underpainting.

You can mix interesting browns from cadmium red, ultra blue and a touch of yellow
