Here are the frogs I've done in polymer clay. The smallest was first, built on the top of a wine cooler cap. I made him with flat eyes, then a friend pointed out that frog eyes stick up, so I corrected it.

The larger one was second, built on top of a sobe cap. He came complete with popping eyes, and hind legs.

Last I made the fish in the pond. I had been contemplating a fairy sitting by a pond, but I liked the frog idea, so there he is.

All were done in basic white, then painted in acrylic. They were a lot of fun and I've since made several little pumpkins, skulls, and other holloween items too...

Cute frogs!

A question: Just curious. Why do you use white as a base color and then paint rather than using colored polymer?

basicly because I can get 1lb of white poly clay for 5 bucks instead of buying each color seperate. Plus I didn't much like how the colors would get smudged and stick to things. It seemed easier to paint them myself... funner in some ways.

There are good reasons to use seperate colors and then touch up with paint too, but it mostly comes down to finances with me.

Thanks for the reply. :) I haven't used polymer since it was first on the market oh so many years ago and before people did all of the cool things they are doing now. Never tried painting it and probably didn't know it would work. Will pass the tip on to my sister and nieces!
