...will the india ink "stick"? I'm doing a painting with word balloons and instead of trying to paint the dialogue, I wanted to write it on there. I guess I can thin out the paint so I can use it with a pen, but am a little more comfy with ink.

Will it work with the ink?

Hi David....can't help with the india ink...but acrylic ink on acrylic paint would be my first choice...:wave:

It should. India ink doesn't come off once dry.

Some inks have shellac that can affect acrylics, and the polymers have a bit of ammonia in them that may affect the ink. The acrylic inks Carrie suggested would be a safer choice.
