This is an 8x10 based on a photo a friend took on a recent trip.
On Ampersand Black Claybord. I don't usually do people! I enjoyed the change from my usual landscape subjects. C&C always appreciated.

Lovely detail work! The subject works beautifully on scratchboard and in black and white. Excellent work!

I much appreciate your positive response! I'm so into scratchboard right now that I let my usual acrylic painting go by the wayside.

LOL, I know the feeling. I've got to work on the statues today (in acrylic) but I've been working on my crab (scratchboard).

I'll get back to doing my Acrylics, but for now scratchboard has taken over the #1 spot!!:D

This is just lovely. It has something of the feel of a Japanese woodcut. Have you thought of doing one with some of the touches of red and yellow so often used in original woodcuts from Japan?

Funny you should mention it. I love Japanese art and have a tryptych by Toyokuni Utagawa that I bought in Japan years ago! I have thought of getting some of that color into a scratchboard. I did a color scratch titled
"Torii" that's on my Yessy gallery site. I'd like to do one with less color than that! Happy you liked this one!!!
