I did this painting this morning for the fall fundraiser for St. Basil Academy. They provide a home for children in need, and nurture them to adulthood on their beautiful property overlooking the Hudson River, opposite West Point. They kindly allow me to paint there on location, which I do pretty regularly, but this painting was done from a photo I took there last fall.

Thanks, Ann. They do wonderful work with the kids there. I was initially going to make up a set of note cards from a bunch of plein air paintings I've done on the property, printing them out for the front of each card. But I had so many problems with my printer that I figured I could do a painting for them in the amount of time it was going to take to make up the cards.

This is wonderful.
I love it!
I think I am getting AADD ( Artist Attention Deficit Disorder) !
Just made that up actually.
I am hanging out tonight in this forum and I have 3 oils on the go and 1 acrylic and have been reading watercolour books all day.
Just call me scattered! LOL

It looks like a lovely place to paint. The colors of your tree carry the light, and I love the haze you have captured across the water. Nice painting, and a wonderful cause you are supporting.

Really nice painting, that spot under the tree looks like the perfect fishing spot, very peaceful and calm look to it all.

Sharon, LOL....I must have 20 unfinished oil paintings in my studio. Most of them do get done eventually! ;)

Meisie and Robin, thanks so much. I'll be delivering the painting to them tomorrow morning.

Jim, that spot is actually very, very high above the river. It's a great overlook.
