I would really like to know how to make those skinny wrapped disc beads everyone makes. Would somebody please tell me how? Lisa

I haven't made too many of these and I don't have a picture to show but a few tips to get you started; begin with a very small footprint and just keep wrapping your glass until it is the size you want. Be very careful to not overheat the glass. Keep it high up in the flame and just carefully build it up and out. You may then want to use some BBQ mashers or something to shape it to keep it thin. Probably not great directions, but just a few tips that I learned from experience. Good Luck!

I use giant tweezers to make that baby stay skinny as I spin the bead in the flame.

Franz's mini mashers are one of my favorite tools and they were only $15. I use them when I want to make flat sides on my beads like that. Onalee

Here's a pic of some of mine--is this what you mean?? I just put down a thin footprint, then keep winding the glass around until it's a big as you want. Let the glass lay on gently, don't push it on. Keep the disc under the flame and the rod in the flame. Then a nice warming & flame-polish and you're done!

Yes Jodie!!! Those are exactly what I mean! Thanks a bunch for your responses.
I tried some with a pre-made stringer... what a disaster!

Thanks for the great comments on my beadies!! I use a full rod--stringer melts too fast for me! Post your pics when you get some made!!
