Thought some of you might be interested in the work of this artist. I was quite intrigued by these small works (although it would be better to see them IRL). Does anyone have any hints on using gouache in this manner?

Gouache can be diluted in semi-transparent washes like in transparent watercolor. It is then glazed to build the color. Then for the foregrounds it is used without diluting, but opague. That is how I would paint these small works.
