I know absolutely nothing about PMC, but I want to learn.

How would I go about searching for classes in my area? I live in Lady Lake, FL, near Leesburg/Ocala. I could travel to Orlando for the right teacher.

Any suggestions on teachers, areas?

Thanks!

Micheals arts and crafts might have some beginning classes, not sure how good they might be cause instructor training varies per location.

Hey Karen,

There are several teachers for both ArtClay Silver and PMC in Florida. Are you looking at just some generic classes or certification classes?

Here are some resources for you:

karen, there are several senior pmc teachers in south florida, & i think also some senior art clay teachers--if you're looking to take a certification class. barbara becker simon is a senior teacher with rio grande, & she's great! i just took a class from her last month at the pmc conference & it was jam-packed with info, & she was great.

i *think* mary ann & ken devos are in south florida somewhere... & i think jane levy of art clay is down there, too.

the pmc guild does have a list that you can search; click classes at the top when you enter the site, & then click the search for classes link (which includes cert & other classes), & you can specify by state. i just searched for florida, & came up with about 26, scattered around the state.

The Devos' are teaching a certification class at William Holland next week. I think they are based out of Atlanta, but am not sure.

Thanks so much for the information everyone!

I'll check it out, and I appreciate the links too!

BTW, I need to take an introductory-type class first. I am interested in certification down the road, as I'd like to teach at our senior center here.

You might want to check University of Florida in Gainesville. Hope White is at the Craft Center?? at the University Center. They may offer some get your feet wet classes there.
