Bumping this back up to the top to see if anyone has this book.

Wish I did, it sounds interesting.

I checked it out of the library and have it here now. It has quite a bit of useful information. Touches on materials, and most subject matter.

i found painting pastel by carole katchen to be of utmost use when i was starting out. what subject are you going for first? sometimes if you go by subject, you can find a book most useful to you, at this time.

i see in another thread, someone thought highly of bill creevy's book, and its only around 13. on amazon.

Hi:

I have heard other artists' praise the Blovitz book, and I got the Bill Creevy book free when I got a set of pastel pencils - that was a nice bonus. You might check your local library to see if there's a copy available for you to review it before you buy it - maybe that will help.
