Beginning Borosilicate Beads w/Kati O'Meara
Sunday September 24, 2006 10am - 6pm $200
Are you are already a soft glass beadmaker ready for another color palette, try making borosilicate beads? This class is perfect for the softglass beadmaker looking for a change. Join Kati O’Meara as she introduces you to a whole new glass beadmaking experience. In this class you will learn basic shaping techniques for a truly round borosilicate bead. We will use frits, stringers, handmade canes and more to accent our creations. By the end of this class students will have a firm grasp of the following:
Basic Shaping – learn to control the glass without melting your mandrel. Color Identification- learn to identify and use the basic color groups.
Color Control- learn specific techniques for color control: crayon colors, reduction and oxidation effects, and striking the ever elusive purple.
Color Combos and Recipes- learn some of Kati’s favorite color combinations and how to control the effects.
Student Requests- (as time permits) specific requests for additional techniques such as, off mandrel pendant demonstration, or help with specific colors.
Skill level: Beginner
Experience required: basic torch experience, either on or off mandrel.
Lunch and some materials will be provided.
Classes and workshops require a 50% non-refundable deposit at the time of enrollment... The exception to the non-refund policy is if you or I can fill the spot. Credit card bank fees will be subtracted from refunds. All classes and workshops are subject to cancellation by "The Mandrel" or the instructor due to low enrollment... in this case all fees will be refunded in full.
