I am not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I entered a scratchboard piece called Tiger Cub in the Sonoma County Fair and it was stolen. The police say there is nothing they can do since there was so many people who could have taken it. There is an article in the local newspaper about the theft and it looks like they might do a piece on my local news tv station. All I want is to recover my art. My step daughter saw it at 6:00 pm on July 29th and my daughter saw it was missing 12:00 pm on the July 30th. When I entered the piece in the fair I agreed to not hold the fair responsible for theft or damage. If anyone has a suggestion as to what I can do, please let me know.

Thanks,
Diana

That's a very nice piece. I'm afraid the police are correct and it's hard to know where to go when there's nothing to go on. Hopefully, the thief will turn it in from the publicity. Best wishes.

nice work, sorry for your loss, i would call, send fliers to frame shops around the area, and watch e-bay and other like sites for "art for sale" likely the piece will be kept, for personal use, so i think the frame shop idea is a way to go, i would also make sure with the coverage on the news ect. that it is understood all you want is your work and it could be mailed to you otherwise the person may just try to get rid of it since it will be risky to show it now. good luck.

Beautiful work. Having your work stolen is definitly a stamp of approval and will generate some great press. Looks like it already has

Indeed. Hefty free advertising which gets an artist's name out. Well, the cost was a painting but that's {I would think} very cheap compared to the screaming of one's bank account.

Hi,

I'm trully sorry.
I would keep checking on flea markets.
I believe that an art appreciator would not do such a thing.
It must have been some one looking for fast money and will sell it for any price.
Send a message with the attachment to your email contacts and ask them to pass the word.
Is that image of your conception ? Otherwise people may see very similar pictures and think they're yours.

Kind regards,

José

I also had a painting stolen, but the worst thing was that i was unaware of the fact it had been stolen because it was taken from my clients property & i missed the opportunity to make the most of the advertising!

i think the most you can do is to take advantage of any publicity you can, look at it as a compliment (a sucky one, but at least it was a favourite!) & soldier on. Arent some people buggers! Good Luck with it, you never know, it might show up. Hidy

Thanks people,

I told my children that I figured the Tiger Cub was a sacrifice to the God of publicity. Oh Well.

I got the image from the Wetcanvas image Library.

I have been checking ebay, but once the piece appeared full screen on the local tv news who ever took it might have been scared off.

Again Thank you,
Diana

I think you can do a tax write off on this...

Sorry about the lost of your painting. It is truly a beautiful piece. I love big cats and you really captured the beauty that they are.

Just curious if they only took the tiger or was other peoples work taken?

I get chills from exhibitors who start out telling you they are not responsible. Despite that, I figure a loss or two is cheaper than special insurances. However, have you checked to see if it is covered by your apartment or home-owners policy?
