Trying to learn how to use PS a little better. I converted this from Raw. Still have MUCHHH to learn!! But I had fun!!
Any C&C welcome............. May not understand, but go ahead!!:)

Nice one, Michael! I like the pose very much, and the addition of a second little bug on the grass. Looks like you know what you're doing with the RAW conversion. Only thing I would be tempted to do now is smooth out the BG a bit more. It's a little noisy/busy/colorful and is competing with that glorious dragonfly.
Hope to see more like this from you!

That is what I would call the catch of the day! ditto the background thing

I agree with you both on the background. What process would you suggest? I am a PS NEWBIE, but have good understanding. I'm using PS 7.0. Still have a PSD file/ layers to play with.

Here's a simplified version for you to consider, Michael. This is a quick routine I go through with most of my hummingbird photos.
First I made a new layer with a dupe of your image and masked out the dragonfly:
Delete and turned on "Lock Transparent Pixels" in the layer palette:
Run Gaussian Blur:
Open hue sat:
Cleaned up the edges with the stamp and brush tools:
Hope that makes sense, and helps!
