For those of you unfamiliar with anagama, or wood firings, my college lecturer Willie told us that it's Japanese and means something like 'all in one room'. (I might have misremembered that, will double-check.:o )

The students at NEWI bought a huge load of wood and once the kiln was was going someone had to stay with it at all times, so there was a group camping out in the field where it was built, by Svend Bayer at the ClayArt event the year previously.

This is the first pic of the view inside the kiln halfway through the firing - this is the fifth day, mind - can you see the pot inside the fire?
