View Full Version : Pictures from Ohio trip...

I finally went through our pictures from our trip and got them ready to post. We visited a Historic House called Stan Hywet which was built in Akron by J.A. Sieberling, the founder of Goodyear Tire & Rubber. It took from 1912 to 1915 to finish it. We couldn't take pictures inside, I don't know why. but it was a completely Tudor interior except for one daughter's bedroom... She preferred light colored walls and French furniture... The linenfold paneling on the walls was amazing... The whole house is gorgeous and includes all the original furniture..
The entrance. The square room at the top of the house is an infirmary. Seiberling built it as such to take care of anyone, guest or family, who was ill.

You brought back some pleasant memories for me. We took our kids to see Stan Hywet when we lived in Ohio back in 1980. It is a gorgeous house—amazing what a little money can built. ;)
Looks like you toured more of the gardens than we did, they really are spectacular. Like June, I snagged the photo of the bridge. I like the geometry of it.
Thanks for sharing these with us.

Gorgeous photos Emilie! Isn't Stan Hywet a fabulous place...I grew up in Canton, only 18 miles from Akron, and each time I visited there, I could 'see' myself living in that place :D
Thanks for the wonderful reminder...
