Nice bird. For me the backgraund is a bit too red, but the bird is perfect.

Thanks, Dolors.

Sorry, everyone, my mistake. This was supposed to go into the "Pastels" forum.

Glad your little bird flew in Ariadne, even if it was by mistake, he is lovely.

I like the way you have worked with the texture of the paper on the wings. It is very effective.

Thanks, Ruth. This little bird was fun to do.

I like the different colours and stuff you used to make the feathers. I love it. And just for the record, I think the red is just great - but then again I'm a real fan of bright colours that get one's attention. lol.

Thanks, Axl. I take your comment re: color as a real complement because I love the colors you use in your dragon pics.

I love your pastel bird, too. But you know what would really look dramatic? Take soft pastel and rub it into it real hard, make it solid but don't smudge, just rub the pastel into the paper with the stick. Then make the feathers real black, too. Don't let the dots of white show through.

You see how you did the wonderful eye? It is solid color and looks great. Leave the lighter colored areas with the white sparkling through. It will look very dramatic.

Or you can leave it as it is because it looks great this way, too.

Very belated thanks, Light, for your kind comments and suggestions. Trying to catch up on threads I've somewhat lost track of--sorry for my lack of manners. I appreciate your suggestions. Cheers!
