View Full Version : Using different coe enamels

Before I try this and waste good glass. I have a box of samples of Thompsons enamels for window glass. If I used these on either moretti or bullseye would it meant I would have a compatability problem or would the 15% theory apply. I can't see me ever using them for window glass now and it seems such a pity to let them go to waste.

Lynne,

Those enamels have a COE in the 60s, not close enough to use with either Bullseye or Effetre.

thanks Steve. I suppose I will have to dig deep into the pocket to get the right ones.Its such a pain getting supplies to South Africa.

Arn't those ones closer to 80 so you might be able to have some luck with them on Sys 96.....I just took this off there site.
Medium Temperature - Low Expansion Enamels for Window Glass and
400 Series (Magnetic) Stainless Steel
Normal firing temperature range for fusing: 1350-1450F
For slumping: 1500-1550F
Coefficient of expansion: Approx. 80 linear expansion
Available in 80 mesh powder, three sizes of frit
(small ~ 0.5-1.4mm; medium ~ 0.9-3.4mm; large ~ 2.4-4.8mm)
or Unground, unsifted enamel (size varies - approx. 1/8" to 2").
