Practicing portraits trying for a lot looser style still have a ways to go on this. I did a rough sketch and am using the picture for a ref. Thanks for the link Joel lots of good studies there!

Hmmm, I know I already responded to this thread a while ago but I guess the goblins ate it.
This is looking good Marge. Sometimes I hesitate to comment on a wip because I don't know what is already planned for the rest of the painting. Are you going to add some complimentary colors to the shadows and background?

Thanks Jean, Aggie and Sherry
Well here is update #3 I am having fits with this one have already erased the bottom half and started redoing added more colors in the overall and shadows. I'm taking it very light a little at a time.

Marge, this is unfolding very well. Her right cheek seems fuller than her left. I'll be back.:)

this is going nicely. I like the unsaturated colors and those upturned eyes.

Marge, the hand is cropped in at a precarious spot. It also looks like it's coming from out of the frame. You might consider adding to the image on her right side. Or, you could omit the hand. Just a thought.:)

I think it's coming along nicely, and I don't have a problem with the hand. her left nostril seems a tad higher than the right.

Thanks for the nice comments and suggestions...Joel, TWT and Barry
I did away with the hand ( I didn't care for it either ) worked on the nose and some highlights around the eyes and tried to get the iris's in both eyes the same size...she looked like she was zoned out in one eye LOL I may have created a problem on the other nostril now but I am taking a break for a day on this one unless it drives me crazy!
