View Full Version : Here comes the bride... WIP

Hi all. I'm just getting started on another portrait. What you see here is just broad tone and color. I'm basically working from large to small. I never really know how loose or tight the painting will end up being... it all depends on when my inner voice tells me to stop. We'll see what happens:)...

Beautiful start wasn't this at that site you posted a link to in the thread Sophie Reflects? Anyway I saw her and thought she would be lovely to try.

Yes, Marge. This is the same Sophie. She's got so many dramatic images. A great resourse. Thanks for stopping by.:)

Looks like another great beginning Joel  , you make me so envious with those beautiful brush strokes,
now off to look at that link :)

I would be so happy if my portraits ended up like your beginning:lol: Such warmth and softness, just beautiful as always.

Gee... thanks Jean and Annie. You both are excellent artists in your own right.:)

Gosh I missed it...been away for a while. Well, the start seems pretty good. I like the palette you are using for the skin tones. Looking for the updates.

Maria, thanks. Here's a bit more... not much time these days...

Starting to touch the details...

Boy, this is developing into a real beauty! sitting on pins and needles waiting for the finished painting. I second Jean's admiration of the brush stokes. Things of beauty.

when you have the hair looking like right now, is it gonna still be there later or will it get covered up 3 or 4 times like I do, when an early representation really means naught.

05-14-2006, 02:08 PM
Thanks Chuck. I appreciate your company.

Greg, you're probably right... at this stage I'm just trying to interpret how I want the hair to flow. There is a good chance that I will drive back and forth over it before it's all said and done. Hair is one of those things though, that if one keeps mussing with it, it will loose its freshness in a hurry... and it becomes difficult to re-introduce the freshness back in. Thanks for your insightful observation.

Thank you Barry, Maria, Frank, Jean and Sher. Yea Sher,... her refs are an instant hit. Her poses are soooooo good, and her compositions are very well thought out.

Here's another update. She's looking a little pasty, but hopefull I can liven her up next round...
