Hello everyone:  http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/10-May-2006/71359-small_grandmapa1xx.JPG
I am new here. This is a portrait of my grandparent scrolled in wood.
I took an old photo of them, and used photoshop to get the main graphics
down. Then copy it to paper and then redraw with graphite paper the areas
to be cut, to make a sillouette. Then I transfer the pattern to the wood with transfer paper, and drill pilot holes for the cuts. Then each piece is cut. The top layer is canary wood, stain clear. The backing is oak stained
with dark walnut stain. Then the pieces are varnished . then glued front to
back to produce the final results. Thanks, any C/C is okay.

This is very nice! I can see you put a lot of work into it. You did a very good job creating the images in this form. Great job!

This is good. I have also done scrollsaw portraits and they look great. People like their look very much. What I do though is to glue a piece of black felp on the back and place the portrait under a glass frame. They look very nice.

Thanks for your comments. Janet, I will certainly try using the felt and placing
my next portraits behind glass. I had never heard of that but it would be alot easier then the way I am doing it now, and probably last longer behind the glass. Thanks again
