Robert Harris...The Chorister...
I have been working on this off and on (mostly off) for about 4 months decided if I am ever going to finish this I need to post the WIP.
Using clumpy brush and oil pastels ... I'm having trouble getting the expression around the mouth. :(

I do hope you finish this:thumbsup: He has very expressive eyes, it is almost as though he is new to the choir and is looking at someone for reassurance.

Marge, I agree that this has a great feel to it and is turning out well. Check the cheeks... one looks fuller than the other.:)

Don't feel bad, I have WIPs that are years old (traditional and digital)! On my "freshness" scale, 4 months is just plucked off the vine! :D

People are always asking, let me see the original, like my uninformed son, but I say screw it, the work either stands on it own or forget it. This one does, altho I can't figure the combo of a brush and pastels, it seems to work for yu. The boy does appear as if he just smelled a faut, tho, I'd work on that. IMO, it's ok to change a masters work, I do, and sometimes for the better.

This is turing out beautifully. I like it very much.

Looking great Marge! I don't know the painting, but when I looked at this in my mind I see a glow on HIS left shoulder and face. You might try that with him if you have a mind to.

A beautiful interpretation:thumbsup: I love it.

Thank you Jean, Sherry and Annie M...took your advice Sherry and worked on the highlights on his left side. Added more colors in the shadows also and worked on numerous areas I thought needed attention.
Do the areas under the eyes look too dark to anyone else?

Couldn't sleep those eyes were driving me crazy here is a redo and I am declaring it finished unless there is a major thing that pops up after studying it for a while. LOL
