Wasn't really sure where to post this query and, to be quite honest, feel a little funny about asking since I haven't been around long enough for anyone to have a real sense of my work. In fact, I probably haven't been painting long enough to have a real sense of it either! :)

There's a little art fair coming up in my area this summer ... I can enter up to three pieces, and am willing to shell out the fee ($12 each) for the experience. Deadline is June 1. I've posted on WC nearly everything I've done ... any suggestions as to which existing pieces I should submit? Or, looking at what I've already done, suggestions as to new pieces I should try to complete and submit?

Portraits are probably my forte ... but I hear that shows don't like them.

Thanks in advance for your very valuable opinions ...

I have to agree that your portraits are strong. I also like the sunflower. These shows are so subjective- hard to predict what will catch the judge's eye.

A judge of such an event once mentioned to me that she appreciated a 'body of work' that was cohesive in some way, when selecting in a jury. She felt an artist had a better chance if the judges could see connections between the submissions - either with regard to subject matter, style, or some other way, so that the pieces looked like they 'belonged' to a particular person. So, with that in mind, I'd look for paintings of yours that have a similar theme or feel - and that speak about you saying "this is what Chouchou is all about as a painter".
Can't wait to see what you choose! Keep us posted!
