WOW JOEL, awsome as usual. Every time I see your stuff you make me try out impasto brushes. After 2 mins of trying impasto brushes, I shake my head wondering how you do that!!!!!

ehhhhh....I dislike this, but I need to splash back into the pool. Been away too long. Primarily P9.5 charcoal pencil, but I dipped it in some blue with PSP. Hi Joel. You're a welcome sight.

Gosh, this thread sure features the speediest among us!

Joel...Excellent! Do you do any sketching...or is it all freehand?

Jean...You're like watching a rose unfurl...each day the show is a bit more spectacular!

Smokin...Subtle, but good development.

Sherry...Nice freehand! The chin is a bit short, though.

Wow, yes quick off the mark. I think to avoid too many posts I will only comment on others when I post a pic. I like them all, especially your sig Jean on the hat! Well done. And I love the face you've done Joel.

Here's mine of Cutiepie. Freehand but some important check points made via tracing mode. (Trying to keep up here!)

I was trying to get the lovely reflection of her shirt on her face.

Good work everyone!
Skinny I think the chin isn't so off as her eyes. If her eyes were where they should be I think the chin would look a little better. I am trying to train my eye for portraits but have a long ways to go. I'm also hampered by the fact I really don't like to do them. Seems some people can draw freehand so well you could put it on top of the reference and it would be so close that it,s as if it was traced. I doubt I could ever come quite that close.
I was really lazy with this one too. I know to mark where the eyes, nose and mouth should be first, but instead I just started to paint. Not a good habit for someone as bad at portraits as I am.
Joel, Smokin, Barry, Jean you all did a great job. Tom,you too and glad to see you posting again.

Thanks for the compliments Jean, Frank and Sherry. Some good work here, we all seem to see different things and emphasise them, which is great.

Love your interpretation, has a serene and melancholic mood. The color of the background you chose is better than the original.

Tom, great stuff my friend... it's a thrill to have you back!... great drawing! You proved that it's like riding a bike! Hang out with us for a while.

Sher, love the looseness... very painterly... your brush strokes are decadent! Nice job!

Kris, it's freehand, but I do check the reference on another layer from time to time to keep me on track.

Bare, your version makes me smile big... it's just so joyfully done! I likes!

Here's my start on Cutie Pie...
