Hey all,

Sorry I haven't been in here in awhile, haven't done calligraphy till today. I'll be doing a sign with Celtic knotwork on it (only because we had such a great tutorial for me to give the client a sketch from... I'll try to post it soon) I just finished this mural with calligraphy on it... c&c always welcome, and thanks for looking in!

Closer view of lettering, which I did a shadow on:

Sorry bout that, didn't post any particulars, how inconsiderate of me! Roughly 4' X 5' if I had to guess, acrylics on drywall! Took 4 days, approx 20 hours. Here's a pic that shows overall size:

Why, thank you, Suzi! I appreciate you taking the time to comment. Welcome, by the way, I read your new user thread, and I know what you mean about the wonderful camraderie on this site, as opposed to some others I'd been a member of. I, too, had pretty much given up on message boards, but I thank the powers that be every day that I found this site and the wonderful, helpful people that frequent it. I hang out mostly in the Decorative Arts forum, if you're interested in murals at all, you should check it out... there are some incredibly talented artists there... and all over this site. Welcome!

You are most welcome, the calligraphy work is impeccable, I love the flow. I have noted that there are many talents on this website, somewhat daunting, actually, for an amatuer, but even the very good ones seem to have an attitude of helpfulness. I am not sure how much I will post, but I must say, I am certainly enjoying the visuals available here. It's exciting!

Don't feel daunted, everyone really is as helpful as they seem, and no one ever says anything bad, at least that's been my experience. Just post something, and let everyone know whether you want comments and critiques; if you do, they'll give them to you.

We all started out the same way, as amateurs just like you, and someday you'll be encouraging someone else to post their work, just like I am.

Good luck, hope you stick around!

Suzi--

Do post your work! It's how we all learn. Sometimes, I've gathered more by watching other people's work develop & the suggestions from other folks than by posting my own. And when I do post my stuff, the urging/suggesting/pushing/cheering/etc can take an ok piece to greatness.

Hope to see yours soon!

Thanks, Tess, I have been trying to design a series of animal graphics using nothing by calligraphic lines, sometimes it works really well, sometimes it doesn't work at all. I might get brave enough to post some of them, just for the input.
