My third work in Painter, again using only customized pencils and charcoal.
By the way: This is the same dog shown in my recent thread "dog's interest".

Nice drawing, Phylax.

You're really making me want a dog again!

What a sweet face. Is he/she yours?

Thanks a lot, I feel I'm getting used to using a Wacom Tablet.

She, the dog, is ours (my family's). I'm not living at their place anymore, but I still had a photograph of her and found it worth being drawn.

That pup is just plain lovable. What kind is she?

Very soft and a beautiful portrait you might want to make the right eye a bit bigger to balance with the left one. :)

@ Skinny

She's a border collie, she's 2 1/2 years...so not a puppy anmore actually, although she still looks quite childlike.

@ LadyAlba

Thanks for the compliment, and special thanks for the advice. I'm still quite new to drawing (it's the fourth one I've done since I went to school, where I had no ambitions at all). I' gratefur for anything people can say me to improve my work. I may try what you've said.

Border collies are terrific, but what ENERGY!

Lovely Collie, but be careful with the eye, it is going away from us, ie on a slant

I see, the left (the dog's right one - how do you say this speaking about images?) eye seems to be the problem. I think I'm gonna take another look at it

Thanks to both of you.

This is a nice drawing but I think perhaps the shape of the eye is oof too human in shape dog eyes a more of a circle.

As most of you seem to be concerned about the eyes, I've decided to uploa the original photo this drawing is based upon.
My goal wasn't an exact reproduction (the photographed dog's face is sort of ironic - the drawn one's isn't), but may still help you to judge some og the drawings aspects.

Great line work and I don't see a problem with the eyes, comparing it with the photos. Interesting piece. Well done!

Very pretty dog! She looks more like a Sheltie though than a border collie. Mixed maybe? Also it is not uncommon for dogs to have almond shaped eyes.

You should try some freehand drawing of her. This would be a good reference for that since it is so clear.

I think it's a very nice aproach, the hairs with the shading below, but one little nigglet, her left ear, almost looks cutaway, but the photo, shows the scruffy fur that is omited in the drawig, making it look more real;-)

She looks good to me :) and the eyes are fine, perhaps if you enlarge the black surround on her right eye that will bring it more into balance
