The reference has been taking up space on my computer for quite a while so I finally pulled it up to give it a go. I am using my shrubby, and dabbing with my wavy color brushes for the background foliage.

Yep, the muscle definition does it all for a horse, looking fine.

Thanks for all your comments! I am pretty much finished with him now but am thinking of adding a dog. This one is just a 3 min sketch to see if I want to add or not. Either way, I see a bit of tweaking left to do but for posting I'm calling it done.

cpart, I don't mind your suggestion at all, and thank you for it. I might otherwise have missed that. It started out right but in the process my sketch often takes on new proportions and they are often not the right ones.

There is a lot of color you cannot see in the resized version. Here is a full size piece.

Do we ever come to the finish??? Seriously though this is gorgeous and me personally would add the dog (gives the horse something down there to look at) LOL

I like the dog Sherry. I have a statue of horses at home and a statue (little one) of a collie dog.they are arranged very much like yours and it works.
Although your dog at the moment seems in severe danger of being run over :)

Okay, I will paint the dog in. Marge, Kirk, Barry, you have convinced me. My grandaughter just got a lil border collie pup so if I paint one in here she will probably want a copy of it too.

Thanks for all the input!
