PENWORK: Three for Val's March Miniature Art project, from the WDE

The Miniature Art March Theme/Project is to do anything that includes Penwork, so I broke out my black ink pen for this weekend's WDE. Submissions should be posted to their own threads in the Miniature forum, then also posted to the Theme thread here (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=330485). I'm posting my individual thread here because these are all ATC/ACEO size, and lack the kind of detail necessary to qualify for true miniature style.

I had so little time and energy this past weekend. It's times like that when I most appreciate the WDEs! I climbed into bed exhausted last night with a little timer and did these three while watching the Oscars. Timer was set for 20 minutes. I didn't let myself go longer than that; it's a great quick-sketch exercise.

I went right in with ink pen on these for the drawing, and did watercolors over the top from a Yarka pan set. All are on Stonehenge paper.

Wish I'd had time to do more, but I fell asleep. :) I discovered that I think I prefer acrylic for this kind of work. Next time......

Jamie, these are wonderful, and such diverse subjects. Golly gosh, 20 minutes each -- that's great. I feel for you, being so tired. There's many a time I've fallen asleep on my chair when painting or penning, and when I wake up, the brush or pen has dropped on my work -- sploosh :eek:

Am moving ahead slowly on mine. It's about 20% done at this point!

OMG, all these on 2.5 x 3.5 inch space? *faint* They are so beautiful....ARRRGGHHHH....I want to draw like that too.

I absolutely love the street scene! So colorful! And the guitars are so unique.

I once tried watercolor in a small painting and the overlap and spread is so hard to control. I like acrylic better too.

Have to learn from you all.
