I really enjoyed painting this one, the metal as much as the bird.

Pretty - I like the way his face is pointed toward the viewer.

Quick question, how do you protect it since it's watercolor? I'd hate to let them go and then one drip......AAAHHHH. Thanks in advance if you answer me! janine

Janine, sometimes I spray them with a very thin coat of fixative. But most times I leave them as is. I send them in plastic trading card sleeves so they are protected.
Gigi,
He is gorgeous ! Look on his face is one of "What are YOU looking at?"I tried to spray fix one this morning and it made the glue let go (I had glued the W/c paper to a piece of matt board.
I just tried to re-glue it with some acrylic medium - will see if that holds.

sks, I'm curious : what medium do you use? Is there a reason you glue your watercolor paper on a matt board?
Gigi
Hey Gigi,
I glued it to matboard cause it was the first one i did and I was experimenting with different procedures that I found on line.
Actually I really like the feel of having the matboard backing, it feels more substantial somehow. I re-glued it and it's fine.
I also did one on canvas paper and one on scratchboard and will also glue those on matboard - I really like it.

Gigi - I'm an accidental visitor and we are just starting a "A-Z Birds of the World" challenge/project in the Watercolor forum.
If we can approach any where near your standard we will be very happy.

Thanks you for all your comments. They're really encouraging!
And Doug, that's quite a compliment... I really admire your work! I just joined the A-Z bird challenge - someone had dropped out and I filled his spot (still waiting for confirmation though) I just hope I can keep up!
