I would appreciate critique/suggestions on this WIP: a protrait of my friend's three dogs. I have completed a transparent underpainting and one additional session in which I glazed and laid in some opaque paint.
It is an 11 X 14 oil on linen.

I love it! What a great setting for the dogs' portrait. Can't wait to see the finished painting. Are you painting if from a photo?

Yes! I have yet to find an animal subject cooperative enough for portraiture :) I am working from several photos of the dogs together and individually... including one similar to this composition (attached below). Thanks for the positive feedback - any improvements, areas to emphasize that strike you?

lol....I meant, was the composition a photo, and I see it is.
The only thing that sort of popped out was the dog on the right. His mouth sort of runs into the fur under his chin....may just be the photo. Perhaps a bit more definition to his mouth would do the trick.
The lace is so painterly...lovely.

What a neat painting..... Donna

Thanks, Sandy - I see the lack of definition you describe... good place to work on (I am concerned to get the Goldens more attention, as the Bernaise is so high contrast, she stands out fine on her own)...I appreciate the feedback!

I love the way you added warmth in the picture with colours. Great job on that :)
