Here is an aceo i created after being inspired by a lovely wooden carved lizard i saw recently...I called it the dreamtime lizard as it has an aboriginal style to it...I adore aboriginal art
I really enjoyed making this one, so much so i have went on to make 3 more along the same theme. with maybe more to come :) lol
I would be grateful for any comments, as i am new to wet canvas and infact new to art (I started dabbling about 3 months ago...) TY and Blessings to all

My aboriginal friend said about your painting which I am passing on to you. (No disrespect toward your art) "dreamtime" refers to the time of the ancestors, the time of formation. Whose ancestors is the painting about?

Hope you don't mind if I jump in here. :)
Love the painting but I do have a bit of an issue. It's a bit of a cultural thing. I was wondering if the artist has a clear understanding of what "dreamtime" actually means. I borrowed this definition,
"The 'Aboriginal Dreamtime' is that part of aboriginal culture which explains the origins and culture of the land and its people.
Aborigines have the longest continuous cultural history of any group of people on Earth - dating back - by some estimates - 65,000 years. Dreamtime is Aboriginal Religion and Culture."

In Answer as to why i called it the Dreamtime Lizard. As the artwork is inspired by ancient aboriginal art and culture from long ago and the dreamtime is the original culture/religion of the native Australian . (hence the name The dreamtime lizard) more a symbol of the ancient rather than a descriptive literal term... in the spirit of dreamtime...Inspired by aboriginies. if you see what i mean but maybe in retrospect i should have just entitled the piece The Lizard.

I refer to my own art as my "Dreaming" as opposed to the "Dreamtime". The Dreamtime is the time of creation, ancient times. My Dreaming is all that I experience, all that I am.
Perhaps "Lizard Dreaming" would be more accurate for your title. I'm sure you would have had some experience with a gecko, so it could be part of your dreaming. :)
