Sandpaper vine

I did my first from life! Granted I cut a branch of the vine and brought it inside... It's a start. this is called Sandpaper vine, or Purple wreath, also known as Petrea volubilis.

I did it quickly, in the hopes that it would loosen up my painting a bit.

Megan, it's wonderful that this forum has inspired so many to work from life. I'm glad you're among those now giving it a whirl. I like your loosely scrubbed in background a lot! It goes with the feel of the piece, and you've worked the values enough to make the plant stand out from the background. Lovely little flowers.

What size is this? I assume it's oils?

Gosh, I'm sorry I didn't say. It's acrylic on 10 x 14 stretched canvas.
