I may have my 2nd comission lined up. This would be a painting that is going to be hung in a bathroom. I don't use fixative on my watercolours, but since this will be hung in the bathroom do I need it? It will be in a frame with glass. My concern is what effect will steam from showers have on this painting? Thanks for any in put.

I think if you seal the back of the painting with airtight tape you should be alright.

I have heard some folks have had paintings in their bathrooms for years with no problems and other shave had the painting damaged. I guess it depends on how much steam you have, and if you have an exhaust fan..

I don't know if I would put a watercolor painting in a bathroom. I would think over time it would buckle?? I have a acrylic painting in a bathroom, framed under glass, but the canvas is starting to wrinkle. I think all that expanding and contracting would not be so good for any painting. Maybe a oil would stand a better chance, but don't know about that cause I can't use oils. :crying: Azure

I have been thinking about this, and if it were mine, I would be taking a print of the painting, sealing it with varnish, and framing it under glass..

What do you think??

Thanks for your in put. This is a concern that I am having about the original in the bathroom. Maybe I'll talk her into putting a print in the bathroom and the original some where else in the house. It doesn't look good to have a painting ruined in a year. Thanks.
