The only thing I would say, and keep in mind this is great.....
The value of the B/G is the same as the pink in the rose.
IF (i don't know what you are after), you want the rose to POP out and be as dramatic as it seems to want to be,
I would suggest being more dramatic with the contrast in value......preferably with the same idea of having a nutral B/G.
perhaps darker, but that is the artist decision.

Flower is goyjus! I'm not in love with the background either...but i don't like that shade of forest green, so just a personal preference.

a very nice painting. background is fine as is. I dont think I'd booger with more lights etc. Flower stretches evenly over the entire canvas and is the focal without problems. Details are good although little things on the inside might want more contrast. Shadows fine. Some blending seems not quite honed, but this is a fabulous flower. Looking at it a second time the petal above the middle is slightly ambiguous in my eye, but its minor.

Have fun,

I think this is beautiful. I like the BG colour. Only thing I'd like to also see is more detail in the very center. (more contrast)

Wow, this feedback is interesting, and it looks different on-line. I really appreciate the differing views; and thus, I am going to sleep on it. I know this painting still needs work.

Thanks again!

The only thing it lacks is the sweet scent of roses! Outstanding job!

After much contemplation, here is what I think will be the final rendition of this painting. I darkened the background and tried to increase the contrast in the centre of the flower. Hope you like it:D

I looked deeper and increased the contrast detail to the centre. It's finished

Thanks for all of the feedback!
